DOOR TAKINGS FOR FIRST DAY

The receipts at the Southland Winter Show for the first day showed a fairly substantial reduction in comparison with 1938. It is thought that the cold weather yesterday was responsible to some extent for the decrease in the takings. The afternoon receipts were lower by £7/2/6 than in 1938 and the evening takings were smaller by £9/13/-. The details for yesterday and the same sessions of 1938 are as follows:—

1939 1938 Afternoon £2l/5/- £2B/7/6 Evening £23/7/6 £33/0/6

TOTALS £44/12/6 £6l/8/-
