ROYAL PRECEDENT.— The Queen visited the House of Commons on Thursday to hear the debate on the Bill to provide 50 camps for children for holidays or for evacuation in the event of war. This is the first time in living memory that the Queen Consort has been present at a debate in the House of Commons. (London.)

FIRST FRUITS OF SUBSIDY— The first fruits of the British Governments shipping proposals are that a Newcastle ship owner, Sir Arthur Sutherland, has ordered two steamers of 9000 tons each. (London).
