“HIGHWAY MANIA”

FILM FOR EDUCATION OF DRIVERS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 31. A film entitled “Highway Mania,” made by the State Motor-Vehicle Commission, of Trenton, New Jersey, and showing proper and improper driving practices, was shown by the publicity officer of the Transport Department, Mr Chorlton, as a prelude to a meeting of motor-cyclists on Wednesday to discuss road safety proposals. It is one of a number the department has obtained from overseas as part of a campaign to educate the public in greater road safety and bring home the dangers that arise from carelessness. Others are on order, but in addition the department is making films of its own in the Dominion, wide arrangements being made for their showing, including, besides motor organizations, women’s clubs, farmers’ unions, Boy Scouts and social gatherings generally. The Centennial Exhibition will be used to widen still further the appeal.
