• VITAL STATISTICS The vital statistics for Gore for the month of March and also for the quarter ending March 31 are as follows:— 1939 1938 Births 12 19 Marriages 11 8 Deaths 9 6 Quarterly Figures 1939 1938 Births 45 61 Marriages 24 19 Deaths 23 20 WEATHER The weather at Gore during March was mild and changeable. Although there were no heavy falls, rain fell on 10 days, making a total of 1.29 in for the month compared with 1.94 in for March last year. This brings the total for the quarter to 8.94 in, an increase of 3.93 in on last year’s total, which was 5.01 in. Seven degrees of frost were recorded on March 29. The sun shone on most days and 146 hours were recorded compared with 179 hours for the same month last year. The total for the year is now 581 hours, a decrease of 60 hours, compared with 641 hours for the same period last year. The weather in Gore yesterday was changeable in the morning, but the sun shone brightly in the afternoon.
