WESTERN DISTRICT CONGRATULATED
WINNER OF FAT LAMB COMPETITION
Congratulations to the Western District of Southland on again winning the Meat Board’s fat lamb competition were extended-, by the president of the Southland provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union (Mr A. R. Johnston) at yesterday’s meeting of the executive. Two years ago, Mr Johnston said, the Eastern District had been successful, but that was the only occasion in eight years that the Western District had won it. The. result showed that there was every justification for the claim that the district produced the best lamb not only in New Zealand, but in the world. Indeed the chairman of the Meat Board had said as much himself.
