BOARD MEMBERS SEE DEMONSTRATION

FIRST AID APPLIANCE IN USE AT BLUFF A demonstration of the Neil-Robert-son splint, which has been acquired by the Bluff Harbour Board for the firstaid room on the wharf at Bluff, was given before members of the board at Bluff yesterday morning. The demonstration was carried out by members of the Men’s Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, arid the Bluff Nursing Division was represented by the superintendent (Mrs D. E. S. Mason) and Mrs C. T. Beaton. Before a big attendance, a “patient” was strapped into the appliance, which serves both as a splint and a stretcher, and was carried over the deck of the Doric Star before being lowered to the wharf. On behalf of the board, the chairman (Mr W. A. Ott) thanked the members of the brigade for giving the demonstration, adding that the board was pleased to have secured the apparatus. The use of the splint should give an injured person a better’ chance of recovery. Mr Ott expressed appreciation of the good work the ambulance brigade was doing on the wharf. The Mayor (Mr John Cameron) said the waterside workers appreciated the board’s action in supplying th? equipment. Difficulty had been experienced in the past which would be practically eliminated by the Neil-Robertson splint, which enabled an injured person to be carried on awkward journeys without inconvenience.
