DECLINE IN WOOL VALUES

FINAL AUCTION AT WANGANUI BRADFORD AND CONTINENT OPERATE (United Press Association) WANGANUI, March 30. Heavy passings for seedy and inferior lambs’ wool and a decline on Auckland values of about Id marked the final Wanganui wool sale of the season tonight. Fleece wool showed a decline of one farthing to a halfpenny and a similar recession was shown in prices for bellies and pieces. Good lambs’ wool sold at late rates. The official report of the combined brokers states: — “There was an offering of approximately 23,800 bales. All sections of the trade were represented. Good wellskirted wools were from par to one farthing cheaper. Average crossbred showed a decline of a farthing to a halfpenny and in some cases threefarthings compared with recent sales. This also applies to bellies and pieces. Good lambs were about par and seedy and inferior, of which there was a big offering, were three-farthings to Id lower. “Bradford were the chief buyers, with the Continent operating on suitable lots. Other sections were quiet. The bulk of the offering comprised heavy condition and seedy wools. Contrary to expectations, the sale showed a decided easing, especially for average to inferior wools.”
