BASKETBALL CLUB’S REPORT SEVENTH ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Pahia Basketball Club was held in the Pahia hall. Mr F. Church, president, presided over a fair attendance. The annual report which was adopted stated: “The seventh annual report of the club shows that the past season has been, from all points of view, a successful one, the club ending the season with sound finances and with a membership of 31. The team, which included several young players, gave a very creditable performance in the Waiau Basketball Association’s A grade competition. The club extends its congratulations to the Pukemaori Club on winning the Billstone Cup. “The following players are to be congratulated on gaining representative honours: Misses Edith and Ethel McPherson, A. Murphy and B. Skerrett. Miss Edith McPherson is congratulated on again being chosen as captain of the Waiau senior team. The team did not enter for many evening tournaments but was successful in winning the Tuatapere Club’s A grade tournament. The team entered as third grade in the King’s Birthday tournament at Invercargill and gave a creditable display. ( “The executive wishes to thank referees, car owners and all those who assisted and helped to make the past season a success.” The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr F. Church; hon. secretary, Miss A. Linton; delegates to Waiau Basketball Association, president, secretary and Miss E. McPherson. Miss E. McPherson reported on her endeavour to obtain sufficient players to enter a team in the Waiau Association’s competition. As only five players were available it was decided that the matter be left over until after the annual meeting of the association, when a suggestion from the club would be brought forward.
