New Zealanders’ Successes

New Zealand pacers and trotters purchased in recent months by West Australian sportsmen have done remarkably well. After their December successes in Perth, Vesuvius and Homeward were again successful at the New Year meeting. The chief race at Gloucester Park last month, the Anniversary Handicap, was won by the veteran Rollo, in 2min 10:jsec, and on the same day Kay Francis accounted for the Anniversary Handicap at Fremantle in 2min 14fsec. The Northern Handicap at the Perth meeting was won by Wrecker in 3min 21sec, with Sunny Morn, who ran 3min 20 2-ssec, in third place. The Bunbury Handicap of 13 furlongs was a New Zealand triumph, as the places were filled by Rollo, 48yds, Homeward, 24yds, and Wrecker, 24yds. The winner’s rate was 2min 12 2-ssec to the mile.
