YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Young Farmers’ Club was held in the public hall. Mr M. English presided over a good attendance of members and visitors, including Mr W. L. Harbord, of the Department of Agriculture, Invercargill, and Mr Thompson, of the Lochiel Young Farmers’ Club. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted:—Advisory presidents, Messrs D. McDonald, D. Mcßae and T. Nevin; club chairman, Mr W. Mudie; secretary, Mr J. Palmer (re-elected); treasurer, Mr M. English. A general discussion on ways of making club meetings more attractive occupied the latter part of the evening. Mr Mudie moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Harbord and Mr Thompson for their attendance and helpful suggestions about the interests of the Young Farmers’ Club. The members were entertained at supper by the members of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union. CRIBBAGE MATCH A cribbage match between the men of the Public Works Department and Dipton players was held in the hall and resulted in a win for the Dipton team by 33 games to 32.
