County Rates
Rates not paid to the Southland County Council by Monday next will carry a penalty of 10 per cent. Up till last evening the amount paid was £32,680, of a total levy of £65,145. This represents only about 50 per cent, of the total, a position which the county clerk (Mr H. C. Gimblett) stated yesterday was far from satisfactory.
