Captain N. B. W. Haszard, harbourmaster at Bluff, has returned from his annual leave, which he spent in Central Otago. Mr H. G. Sutton, one of the original members of the Southland Boys’ High School Old Boys Football Club, was elected a life-member of the club at the annual meeting of members last evening. Mr W. C. Barry, Director of the Livestock Division of the Department of Agriculture is visiting Invercargill. Mr K. H. Allen returned to Invercargill by the express last evening. Mr E. P. Hawke was elected president of the Southland Boys’ High School Old Boys Football Club last evening. After two years as Chief Postmaster at Auckland and 40 years’ service in the Post and Telegraph Department, Mr W. G. Cooper is to retire on superannuation. He will begin his annual leave on April 1, which will be followed by three months’ retiring leave. One of the most popular officers who has filled the position of Chief Postmaster at Auckland, Mr Cooper joined the service at Helensville in 1899.— Press Association. Mr Charles Milner, Mr Arthur Rowling and Mr Clarence Farrington Skinner have been appointed members of the Cawthron Trust Board, according to a notice in the Gazette.—Press Association.
Mr G. D. King, of Dunedin, and Mr B. A. Reeves, of Nelson, were successful in passing the land surveyors’ examination conducted by the Survey Board.—Press Association.
