WAIAU ASSOCIATION MEETS FULL REPRESENTATION OF DELEGATES A full representation of delegates.was present at a meeting of the Waiau Tennis Association. The president, Mr R. W. Pickering, was chairman. It was decided that the next two Saturdays be used for competition matches, and the following Saturday for a men’s, women’s and mixed handicap doubles tournament to be held at Orepuki. Providing that none of these fixtures was postponed because of the “weather, an A and B grade championship singles tournament for men and women will be held on the Excelsior Club’s courts, Tuatapere, on April 1. Previously the tournament consisting of men’s, women’s and mixed handicap doubles, and men’s and women’s championship singles has been held on the same day, but because of big entries preventing the matches being completed that day, it was decided to make it a two-day event. Mr R. W. Pickering was appointed tournament supervisor, Mr I. E. Terry, umpire steward, Miss E. McPherson and Mr R. W. Pickering, handicappers. The matter of late starting of matches by some clubs was discussed and it was decided that if a club considered it had legimate grounds for protest about late starting, it should enter a protest to the secretary of the association within 48 hours, the association to consider the protest on its merits. TE TUA Playing at Orepuki the Orepuki team beat the Te Tua A team by 13 sets and 93 games to three sets, 63 games.
