DISMEMBERED STATE. —A map of Czechoslovakia as it was before the absorption of the Germanic areas by the Reich last October. The areas marked in black, though not the actual areas occupied by German troops nearly five months ago, give an idea of the territory lost by Bohemia and Moravia after the Munich agreement. Slovakia, which on Tues- » day proclaimed itself an independent State, is clearly shown. The area indicated as purely Slovak was approximately all that was left of Slovakia after Munich. Hungary has now invaded Ruthenia, the eastern "heel" of Czechoslovakia, which has been incorporated in the new Slovak State. Rumania has taken extraordinary military precautions on her northern border and Polish troops have been concentrated on the frontiers of Slovakia and Ruthenia.
