Dr Benes Criticizes Appeasement
CHAOS IN EUROPE EMPHASIZED Democracies Blamed For Situation (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received February 12, 1110 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 12. “The policy of appeasement of the dictatorships serves a purpose in postponing war, but there is no decrease in the number of those who believe that such a policy will ultimately fail," said Dr Eduard Benes, the former president of Czechoslovakia, in an address. Dr Benes expressed the opinion that war in Europe was not likely soon, but
he gave a warning that it would be a mistake to underestimate the European chaos. Dr Benes laid the blame for the present situation on the “weakening and indisputable decline” of the two Western European democracies.
