Oxford Down Sheep
Oxford Down sheep breeders recently celebrated the jubilee of the Breed Society. The breed was founded in 1830 by crossing the Cotswold ram and the Hampshire Down ewe. The new breed first appeared at the “Royal” in 1853. The Oxford Down has been a prime favourite in Scotland for many years. The strongholds of the breed are on the Borders and in Aberdeenshire.
