A meeting of all those interested in the formation of a mounted rifle troop in the Lumsden, Mossburn, Athol, Five Rivers, Lowther, Balfour and Dipton districts will be held at Lumsden next Saturday night. Officers of the Otago Mounted Rifles will address the meeting. This is the first opportunity for many years that the young men of the Northern District have had to join a mounted rifle regiment. The annual camp of the Otago Mounted Rifles will be held at Wingatui from March 9 to 20, when his Excellency the GovernorGeneral, Lord Galway, will present the guidon to the regiment.
