INTOXICATED MOTORIST
SALESMAN SENT TO PRISON (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 6. In the Magistrate’s Court Hew George Rodney Goldingham, aged 34, a salesman, was sentenced to one month in gaol for being intoxicated in charge of a car at 11 p.m. yesterday. His licence was cancelled for two years. The police stated that the accused was travelling at a fast speed without lights and a constable who attempted to stop him had to jump out of the way to avoid being knocked down. He had three similar previous convictions. Robert Thomson, aged 35, a teamster, was sentenced to a fortnight’s imprisonment and his licence was cancelled for two years for being intoxicated in charge of a motor-cycle on Saturday night.
