PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION
SUCCESSFUL PICNIC AT COLAC BAY The Public Service Association’s annual picnic which was held at Colac Bay attracted a gathering of about 300 persons. The weather, although dull, was fine and the picnic was most successful.
The sports programme was as follows:—
Boys under 10.—R. Dwyer 1, A. Hill 2, J. Allabaster 3. Women’s shoe race.—Mrs Breayley 1, Miss A. Stapleton 2, Miss M. Farmer 3.
Single Women’s Race—Miss Fay Hinchey 1, Miss A. McDonald 2, Miss Farmer 3.
Girls under 10.—N. Allabaster 1, E. Johnston 2, Shirley Dobbs 3. Single Men’s Race (100yds handicap). —A. Alcorn 1, H. Fraser 2, —. McKay 3. Married women’s race.—Mrs Lythgow 1, Mrs Marriott 2, Mrs A. Mitchell 3. Married men’s race. —Burgess 1, Mitchell 2, Tapley 3. Three-legged race. —Miss Lange and Ments 1, Miss McDonald and Rawle 2, Mrs Frampton and Frampton 3. Tug-o’-war competition (5 men a side).—Winton 1, Invercargill No. 3 2. Relay race.—State Advances (McKay, Matheson, Grace, Glennie) 1, Public Trust 2, Gore Power Supply 3. Power Supply 100yds championship. —J. Faithful 1, Hop step and jump.—H. Fraser 1. The following gave trophies for sports events: —Messrs A. Wachner, J. L. Gardner, Colin McDonald (Colac Bay); John Edmonds, Ltd., Qriscoes Ltd., Drummond and McKnight and Carters Ltd.
