DESTROYED IN BIG FIRE
NEW INTERNAL TELEPHONE SYSTEM (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 5. Included in the appointments of the social security building destroyed in Thursday morning’s fire was a complete new internal telephone system. The apparatus was recently purchased in England at a cost, it is understood, of £lOOO and had only been installed in the building by the Post and Telegraph Department the day before the fire. BUILDINGS UNDER CONSTRUCTION GOVERNMENT INSURANCE COVERAGE (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 4. The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) stated today that the buildings which were being erected by the Public Works Department were covered by the usual Government insurance fund.
