BANKS SHOW LITTLE LIFE ON INVERCARGILL EXCHANGE

There was little life in the banking section on the Invercargill Stock Exchange yesterday. New Zealands had buyers at £2 0/9 and Unions were wanted at £8 5/-. Australian industrials were neglected and there was very limited inquiry for New Zealand issues. A hesitant tone existed for mining companies’ shares. Sales of Commercial Banks at 16/3, Gisborne Sheep Farmers’ debentures, 6 per cent., at £lOl 15/-, 1949 4 per cent, stock at £99 and 1955 4 per cent, stock at £99, were reported.

SYDNEY (Received November 28, 10.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 28. The Stock Exchange opened quietly and fairly steadily and closed firmer than at the end of last week, but the turnover was limited.

MELBOURNE Most sections of the market are quiet. National Bank (£5 paid) were well taken at late rates.
