A VISIT TO SMITH’S.
PREPARATIONS FOR A BIG EVENT WELL KNOWN NIGHTCAPS STOCK AT 12/6 IN THE POUND Few people realise the extent of the preparations necessary for the holding of a major merchandise event. This fact was vividly demonstrated to a reporter, who visited H. & J. Smith’s yesterday and was invited to inspect the preparations for the big sale of the General Drapery stocks of N. H. Irwin, Ltd., Nightcaps. In the stock-receiving room a staff of 20 wks busily engaged checking and ticketing the goods at sale prices. Trucks of the ticketed items were being wheeled to the various departments and upstairs ticket writers were preparing price cards for the numerous displays. The merchandise was transported from Nightcaps by the firm’s own vans. The stock was purchased at 12/6 in the Pound, and is well assorted and of excellent quality. Today preparations will be completed and the Sale will commence at 9 a.m. Wednesday. 7560
