PRESENTATION

Mr T. Parkinson, who has been railway wharf supervisor at Bluff for the past four and a-half years and who has been transferred to Christchuich, was met by the railway division of the waterside workers, together with officials of various shipping companies. A presentation of a fireside chair and a cheque was made by the president of the Bluff branch of the Waterside Workers’ Union (Mr W. K. Cameron) who expressed regret at the departure of so capable an officer from the port and praised Mr Parkinson’s many excellent qualities. Messrs Elvin White, J. Williamson and W. Calder spoke on behalf of the shipping and stevedoring firms, and Messrs M. McTigue, E. White, T. Breayley, A. Cheyne, H. Denny, G. Dimond and D. Wares on behalf of the waterside workers. Mr Parkinson replied. A presentation of a crystal bowl was made to Mrs Parkinson.
