HENLEY-ON-YARRA REGATTA (Received November 27, 7.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, November 27. A crowd of 40,000 attended the Henley-on-Yarra regatta on Saturday. The main rowing event, the Grand Challenge Cup for the senior eights, was won by the Melbourne Mercantile crew, which defeated New South Wales Haberfield by one-third of a length in a thrilling race. Time, 4.44. The Challenge Cup for the senior fours was won by New South Wales Police, which defeated Richmond by three-quarters of a length. The Silver Sculls were again won by New South Wales Police (Constable H. J. Turner), by three lengths.
