BRITAIN AND THE ARABS

To The Editor Sir, —At school, sometimes, an objectionable boy will chalk on the back of a not-too-spirited comrade: “Please kick me.” And all the bullies will kick mightily. On the back of the British Empire our pacifists have chalked: “Please kick me.” And the Germans kick, the Italians kick, the Japanese kick. The boy will perhaps be afraid to turn on those he knows to be the kickers and will single out some inoffensive friend and say: “You kicked me. You can’t do that with impunity. Take that and that!” The British Empire being afraid to tackle the Germans, or the Italians or the Japanese, turns round on the helpless friendly Arabs and says: “I’ll show you how plucky I am. Take that bomb and this bomb, with plenty more to follow.” God bless the League of Nations Union. —Yours, etc--J. P. DAKIN. November 27, 1938.
