FOUR MEN INJURED IN BRAWL

RUNNING FIGHT DEVELOPS ON TROJAN STAR (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 27. Four men were taken to the Auckland Hospital as a result of a brawl in the Trojan Star on Saturday night. One was severely injured. The injured are: Edward Cheyne, a greaser.—Facial lacerations, injury to left eye and slight concussion. Thomas Fitzpatrick, fireman.—lnjury to face and teeth knocked out. David McKay, fireman.—lnjuries to ribs and abrasions. George Keenan, fireman.—One leg injured and abrasions to face. Differences that developed on the voyage from England to New Zealand are said to have culminated in a general brawl, a number of the men being taken completely by surprise. Starting in the firemen’s quarters, a forecastle affray developed into a running fight. Officers of St. John’s Ambulance were called and found one man apparently unconscious on the deck. He was Cheyne, the most seriously injured man. With Fitzpatrick and McKay, he was taken to hospital and admitted. The other two were discharged after treatment. A second call to the Trojan Star was received by the ambulance two hours later, and George Keenan was taken to hospital. He was given treatment and allowed to leave. The police arrested the four men. DEATH FROM INJURIES George Henry Baker, of Park street, Winton, who injured his back when he fell from a power pole at Dipton on November 7, died early on Saturday morning in the Southland Hospital. Baker was a married man, aged 32. An inquest was opened before the Coroner (Mr R. C. Abernethy, S.M.) on Saturday afternoon.
