WOMAN’S PLUNGE TO DEATH

BODY IDENTIFIED BY SYDNEY RELATIONS (Received November 27, 7.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 27. The police have obtained identification of the body of Miss Muriel Hare, the woman who jumped to her death from a window on the fourth floor of a hotel on Friday. She had relations who reside in the suburb of Rozelle. Miss Hare’s handbag contained a sum of money and the return half of a steamer ticket to Dunedin. Speaking on the radiophone from the Awatea the master (Captain A. H. Davey) said that men had been searching the ship for Miss Hare, whose ticket and luggage were on board. He added that when Miss Hare came to Sydney in the Awatea on November 4 she was most cheerful. Before she became a masseuse Miss Hare was a school teacher and was widely known throughout Otago. During the infantile paralysis epidemic she did a vast amount of voluntary work among children and in this and other ways earned the admiration of citizens. She received her training at the Otago School of Massage and was recognized as one of the leading masseuses in Dunedin. Miss Hare’s mother and two sisters reside in Dunedin.
