BUSY PERIOD AT BLUFF

ALL BERTHS SHOULD BE FULL With five ships working, an overseas passenger liner, three intercolonial steamers and a coastal vessel, all berths will be full at Bluff on Monday. The period of activity should extend until the end of the week at least, as there will be two more arrivals during the week. The arrivals at the week-end include the New Zealand Shipping Company’s passenger liner Rangitata from Port Chalmers tomorrow. She will be in port for several days. Tomorrow morning the Union Company’s trans-Tasman passenger liner Maunganui is scheduled to arrive from Melbourne, via Milford Sound. From Dunedin, the same company’s coastal freighter Waipiata is due to reach Bluff.

Also expected tomorrow, or on Monday, are the Union Company’s intercolonial steamers Waikouaiti and Karetu, the former from Sydney and the latter from Hobart. Both vessels will possibly remain in port for a day or two. . .

The next overseas ship to arrive is the Federal liner Tekoa, from Liverpool via northern ports. She is due on Thursday. THE WEATHER Although rain fell throughout the previous night and during the morning yesterday, the weather improved in the afternoon. The sun shone brightly and the temperature was warmer than for the past few days. A strong wind blew from the west, however, and the seas were choppy. If the weather is suitable, the first Sanders Cup trial will be sailed on the harbour this afternoon.
