BALFOUR

PLUNKET SOCIETY FANCY DRESS PARTY The annual fancy dress party under the auspices of the Balfour branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Town Hall. A grand parade in fancy costume was held. Mr R. T. Wilson was chairman and explained that the object of holding the function was to raise funds to erect a Plunket rest room in place of tho old rooms which were no longer suitable. The programme was as follows:— Harmonica Band, Waipounamu; choral speaking, -Balfour school children; play, “The Three Bears,” Valda McGregor, Melva and Keith Proctor; recitation, Valerie Leith, “Mother’s Little Housemaid”; folk dance, junior school children; Highland dance, Miss McDonald; duet, “Ye Banks and Braes,”. Isla Grant and Winnie Liddell; recitation, Maurice Lamb; piano-accordion, Mr R. Hazlett, Lumsden.
