Scratch Races Proposed
A proposal that scratch racing be started at amateur athletic meetings in Invercargill is to be made at the next meeting of the Southland Amateui Athletic Association. The proposal will be made by Mr G. H. Geddes, formerly a prominent athlete at Canterbury College, who is of the opinion that in scratch racing lies the means of stimulating competition and bringing out the best in the amateur athletes of Southland. The system is one which has worked successfully in other centres, notably Canterbury and South Canterbury.
