TENNIS COUNCIL’S DECISION THREE SELECTORS TO BE APPOINTED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 25. A decision to enter a team for the Davis Cup competition was made at the quarterly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. The chairman of the management committee (Mr A. G. Henderson) said the committee was of opinion that an entry should be made every year or two to keep New Zealand’s name on the tennis map overseas. It was-agreed to send a youths’ team, under 21 years of age, to Australia to compete in the under-age tournament at Sydney. By 17,275 votes to 13,196. it was decided that three selectors be appointed to select New Zealand teams in place of the present system of selection by tiie management committee of the association. THE MATAURA VALLEY COMPETITION BRYDONE BEATS REDAN Playing at Brydone in the Mataura Valley tennis competition, the home team beat 'Redan by five sets and 30 games to no sets and 20 games, with three sets unfinished. Results, with Brydone names first, were as follows:— Women’s Doubles.—Misses E. Moore and M. Drysdale beat Misses J. Hagen and R. Parsons, 6-1. Mixed Doubles—N. Parker and Miss Moore beat J. Findlay and Miss Hagen, 6-2; W. Titchener and Miss M. Drysdale beat D. Findlay and Miss R. Parsons, 6-2; A. Johnston and Miss C. Hay beat T. Valli and Miss M. Johnston, 6-1; G. Kennedy and Mrs Lambie beat H. Raymond and Miss McKenzie, 6-4.

MENZIES FERRY BEATS MIMIHAU Menzies Ferry beat Mimihau by five sets and 40 games to three sets and 26 games. The results, with Menzies Ferry names mentioned first, are:— Men’s Doubles.—Foxon and Evans lost to W. Smith and A. Smith. 3-6; Matheson and Henderson beat Arnott and Dooley, 6-2. Women’s Doubles.—Misses Newman and Henderson beat Misses A. McLaren and Hunter, 6-7; Mesdames Bulling and Dickson lost to Misses B. McLaren and Hunter, 5-6. WESTERN DISTRICT COMPETITION OTAUTAU BEATS OHAI Playing at Ohai in the Western District tennis competition in boisterous weather the Otautau A team beat the home team by 16 sets to five. The results with Ohai names first were:
