AMBULANCE BRIGADE

NURSING DIVISION’S REPORT Reference to the death of Mr John Miller is contained in the annual report of the Nursing Division of St. John Ambulance Brigade. It states that the brigade has suffered a severe loss, for Mr Miller was untiring in his efforts to further the cause of the St. John Ambulance.

The report adds that the work of the division has progressed consistently. The following figures give some idea of its scope: Cases of first aid attended to on public duty, 27; cases of first aid attended privately, 19; cases of private nursing done in the home, 60. The examination results were very satisfactory. Ten first aid certificates, five medallions and seven home nursing certificates were gained, and 20 passed re-examination. Those who were successful in the annual brigade re-examination were: Mesdames G. M. Chapman, H. K. Gavan, E. Robbie, J. Price, B. Melhop, A. Fox and N. Read, Misses J. Jamieson, J. Jensen, I. King, R. Jaquiery, I. Gilchrist, H. Jamieson, J. Skinner, C. Brown, M. Buddle, M. Phillips, L. B. Russell and E. Saunders. At the Dunedin competitions the division was represented by one team which, though it did not win a trophy, did very creditable work and gained much useful information.
