NO ISOLATION IN MODERN WORLD
IMPORTANT PART PLAYED BY COMMUNICATIONS (Received November 24, 11.55 p.m.) ■ WASHINGTON, November 24. The Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) in a broadcast said the development of modern communication systems such as the radio-telephone and the telegraph made impossible a national policy of isolation and selfsufficiency. “Even if we wish we are not allowed to forget the outside world or to ignore our neighbours,” said Mr Hull. “The development of communications brings nearer home the fact that isolation and self-sufficiency are illusions and that interdependence and the need for co-operation are fundamental.”
