PASSENGERS IN VEHICLE INJURED (United Press Association) i AUCKLAND, November 24. Though the car in which they were travelling was badly damaged, none, of the four persons involved in a collision with a suburban train at a level crossing, shortly before noon, was critically injured. The persons concerned were:— Arthur Cook, aged 47, concussion and head injuries, his condition is the most serious. ‘ Elizabeth Cook, aged 49, his wife, mild concussion and a scalp wound, condition not serious. Mrs J. Bell, a passenger in the back seat, broken collarbone and slight concussion, condition satisfactory. A four-year-old child in the back seat escaped injury. All live in Avondale. The car, an old sedan model, was going up Porter’s avenue from Eden terrace and the train, which had just left the Mount Eden station on its way to Henderson, had scarcely drawn out of the station yard at a slow speed when the accident happened. After first-aid treatment the injured were taken in the ambulance to the hospital. YOUNG MAN KILLED AND ANOTHER INJURED (United Press Association) HASTINGS, November 24. A young man was killed and another was seriously injured when a motorcycle on which they were riding collided with a motor-car at the intersection of Williams street and Tomoana road, Hastings this evening. The victims were:— KILLED George Lorenzo Cecil Stevens, aged 21, single, of 308 Ellison road, Hastings. INJURED lan Duncan Neil McPhee, aged 26, single, of Maraekakaho, head injuries, fractured leg, abrasion and shock. The driver of the car, Brian Schofield, aged 17, of Hastings, suffered abrasions and shock MOTORIST SEVERELY INJURED (United Press Association) / WELLINGTON, November 24. Severe head injuries and concussion were suffered by J. McMrohon, of 195 Worster Bay road, Seatoun, when a collision occurred between a motor-car he was driving and a tram-car opposite Duncan terrace in Crawford road, about 5.45 o’clock tonight Late tonight McMrohon was reported at the Wellington Public Hospital to be still unconscious. DAIRY FARMER FOUND DEAD (United Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, November 24. Arthur Chote, single, aged about 47, a dairy farmer, was found dead on a farm near Kiritaki. Chote had lived in the district for about 24 years. He served in the Great War. He had been in failing health for some years. ‘ CHILD DROWNED IN CREEK A drowning accident occurred in the Eglinton Valley on Tuesday, the victim being Ray Sutton Jones, aged 14 months, only son of Mr and Mrs Robert Jones, of Hollyford. The child, whose home was close to Smithy Creek at Knobbs Flat, evidently fell into the creek and was carried down it for about half a mile. The body was recovered 120 yards frora the junction of the creek and the Eglinton river. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. Mr C. G. Macauley, J.P., of Mossburn, ‘acted as nnrnnor.
