MONEY TO INVEST IN DOMINION
Mr Cox Pleased With Response REOPENING OF MINES ON WEST COAST (Special to The Times) DUNEDIN, November 11. The fact that he had found a ready response in the North Island to requests for investments in New Zealand, in spite of the frequently-heard assertion that much money was going into Australian investments, was emphasized by Mr E. T. Cox, who has just returned from Auckland. He said he had just completed arrangements with financial interests in the North Island to open two mines on the West Coast.
These mines, of which Mr Cox, the former Mayor of Dunedin, is managing director, are the Murray Creek Consolidated gold mine at Reefton and the United Brunner Coal Mines Ltd. Both are to be reopened after having been closed down since about 1920. Financial interests in Auckland informed Mr Cox that there was plenty of' North Island money available for any legitimate South Island industry.
