OBITUARY
MR RICHARD THOMAS The death occurred at Oturehua on October 15 of an old and highly respected resident, Mr Richard Thomas, at the age of 73 years. Born in Cornwall, England, in 1865. Mr Thomas came to New Zealand as a boy with his parents in the sailing ship Blue Jacket. The family settled at Cromwell and later Mr Thomas carried on gold mining there, and also in the Lake Wakatipu district, going to Oturehua 30 years ago with his wife and family. Mr Thomas is survived by his widow, three daughters—Mrs T. Huddleston, of Omakau, Mrs S. Hayes and Miss M. Thomas, of Oturehua—and one son, Mr Richard Thomas, of Dunedin; also three sisters —Mrs I. P. Beck and Mrs Ledington, of Gorge Road, Southland, Mrs Cameron, of Invercargill, and one brother, Mr P. Thomas, of Waianakarua.
