BLUFF BOWLING CLUB

SEASON OPENED IN FINE WEATHER The Bluff Bowling Club opened its season in fine weather before a good attendance of members and visitors from Invercargill. In the absence of the Mayor (Mr John Cameron), the Deputy-Mayor (Mr A. E. Budd) declared the sea'son officially open and wished the club a successful year. The first bowl was rolled by Mrs W. P. Butler. ~ , „ , The president of the Southland Bowling Centre (Mr D. M. Scandrett) congratulated the club on its standard and praised the appearance of the green. Representatives were present from the Northend, Waihopai, Georgetown, Te Rangi, Southland, R.S.A., Invercargill and Waikiwi Clubs. The Bluff Ladies’ Bowling Club will open its season this afternoon. HOTEL GUESTS Recent guests at the Club Hotel include Mrs Whale, sen., and Mr S. Whale, jun. (Christchurch), Mr W. Andrews (Heddon Bush), Messrs R. and E. Bell (Milford Sound), Mr and Mrs Lorimer, Mr and Mrs Barnett and •Mr Greenwood (Dunedin) and Mr and Mrs T. Grange and Mr R. Senior (Invercargill).

PERSONAL Mr J. H. Doyle has returned from a brief holiday visit to Stewart Island.
