BOMBERS’ FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA

CREWS WELL TRAINED AND EQUIPPED SNAKE BITE SERUMS AND DINNER JACKETS (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received October 24, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 24. , The aviation correspondent of The Daily Herald says that the crews of the four Vickers Wellesley Royal Air Force bombers which are attempting a nonstop flight from Egypt to Australia are equipped with everything from revolvers and axes to dinner jackets and snake bite serums. They have been intensively trained from the beginning of the year. There are three men in each aeroplane, with an automatic pilot. Although the bombers’ top speed is 200 miles an hour they will probably average 135 to conserve petrol. A load of eight tons each gives additional range. A fifth aeroplane is accompanying the bombers as far as Aboukir (Lower Egypt), thence to Australia in easy stages, organizing details of the return flight. EARLY DEPARTURE FROM ENGLAND (Received October 25, 12.25 a.m.) LONDON, October 24. The Vickers Wellesley bombers for Egypt left Heyford at'6 a.m.
