FAIR TO CLOUDY (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, October 24.

Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light and variable winds, with north-westerlies predominating and freshening somewhat. Weather fair to cloudy, but becoming unsettled in

the west. Temperatures becoming milder. Seas slight to moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather showery at first along the coast between Cook Strait and East Cape, but improving, otherwise fair to cloudy, but becoming unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect. "Cold tonight, but some frosts in the South Island. Milder to-

morrow. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone of moderate intensity is advancing on to the Dominion, but is being followed by an extensive depression, which at present covers New South Wales.

Winds.—Moderate south-westerly, gradually changing to north-westerly or northerlv.

Seas.—New Zealand waters, slight to moderate; eastern Tasman Sea, moderate south-westerly winds, changing soon to west or north-west in the northern portion and later in the southern, seas moderate.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and warm, although the „ sky was overcast in the afternoon. At one o’clock this morning the weather was fine and clear.
