JERSEY BULLS IN MANAWATU

ANNUAL SHOW AND SALE AVERAGE MORE THAN 19J GUINEAS The sixteenth Manawatu Jersey bull and heifer sale, which is held under the auspices of the combined Jersey cattle clubs of the Wellington Province, was held at the Palmerston North show grounds and attracted a representative bench of buyers. The strict conditions of entry make it necessary for every bull offered at this fixture to be eligible for calf-mar king and it is theoldest established sale of its kind held in the Wellington province. Unfortunately for breeders there was a heavy downpour of rain continuously, thoroughout the day which made conditions unpleasant and this, together with the grave situation then existing in Europe, undoubtedly had a restraining influence on the sale. Buyers showed a disinclination to extend themselves to the. same limit as last year and in the circumstances an average of 19| guineas must be considered satisfactory.
