COST OF LIVING IN BRITAIN

(British Official Wireless) (Received October 7, 6.30 p.m.)

RUGBY, October 6. More than 1200 households gave information on their budgets for four weeks in the Government’s cost-of-living inquiry. The Minister of Labour (Mr Ernest Brown) in a broadcast said the Ministry had lost no time in analysing, examining and summarizing the facts collected, and the results would be given to Parliament as soon as this was completed. The information would go to fix a cost-of-living figure to replace the present figure, which was based on pre-war facts.
