Great Britain ate less butter and cheese, and fewer eggs in 1937 than in 1936, but the consumption of margarine increased. Butter imports were the lowest since 1933, although Empire supplies were only slightly affected. Home production of butter and cheese declined considerably. The purchasing power also declined.
