Crinolines Appear At Fashion Parade

LONDON, September 9.

Crinolines have been threatening ever since romance entered the designers’ hearts this autumn. They have appeared at last. There was a fashion parade at Grosvenor House this week, and there I saw crinolines fully-fledged and exact replicas of last century’s. Some had tiny strapless bodices, others had fichu neck-lines, still others had low, square necks. But they.all had huge billowy skirts, wired underneath. Some of them were gathered into series of loops, others were just gathered at the waist, still others were trimmed with net and bows and frills. I had to admit that I like them and that they are vastly becoming, particularly as they hide any and all figure-

defects we might have. But we' shall have to learn the crinoline technique. No striding, only little mincing steps, or your skirt will swing enough to make onlookers sea-sick; dancing at a good distance from your partner or your skirt will go up at the back; sitting down with grace so that your skirt will not form an arch in front.
