MORE ATTENTION TO BE PAID TO HAIR STYLES

Hairdressing modes are going to be gay with a touch of . the ’nineties from now onwards. Invisible hairpins, clips and grips will again be in demand, for hair is going up. While the Paris dress designers have been launching their latest creations, hair stylists have also Revised new ways with plaits, puffs and coronets of curls that are entirely in keeping with the fashion picture. More attention will be given to hgir styling since so many women have found that the vogue of the bob or shingle has done their hair good, and they are now ready to experiment with different ways of dressing hair that has been allowed to grow a little longer, and is certainly more luxuriant. Garbo-esque hair styles are not . always easy to manage, and are suited only to certain types of features, and those who. wish to make a complete change in appearance are trying out the new combed-up and brushed-back effect, crowned with a bunch of curls, slightly raised at the top of the head. A coronet of flatter curls, higher at one 'side in front and flattened above the ears, is another idea. CLUSTERS OF CURLS The cluster of curls has to be poised at the correct angle if it is to enhance the profile and the style is to prove a becoming frame for the features. To be a success the head silhouette must be every whit as shapely with the hair “up” as when dressed in the shorter manner. A touch of brilliantine will give a well-groomed look. Although the high curled styles are reminiscent of the pictures of Mrs Langtry, Mary Anderson and other famous beauties of past days, and evidently take their inspiration from the elaborate hair modes . of the late nineteenth century, there is a modern simplicity of line that is most becoming to present-day women. The hair puffed and curled is posed over a soft wide wave, and though the actual doing may take a little more time the result is distinguished, and a definite change from the sleek, permanently waved head of hair with a roll of curls in the nape of the neck, an almost universal vogue that has been apt to make every head look more or less alike.

There is a hint of the Alexandrine fringe, which curiously, perhaps, becomes a modern make-up when arranged with a smoothly brushed-up almost cushioned look at the side above the ears, showing the charm of a youthful contour of the neck at the back of the. head. The slightly curved fringe, covering the brow at one side, or the centre of the forehead, is also a becoming hair vogue for faces that are too long. ■
