GOLF DRIVE OF 2000 YARDS!

A record is a record in America. There they go for them hot and strong, and they are not very particular'how they are made as long as they are records. Americans have such a nice sense of humour, says an Australia writer.

For example: The longest drive record is held by an American. He drove a ball 2900 yards! How? By driving off from the top of Mount Edith Cavill, 11,000 feet high. They hold the record for holing in one by getting down a 400 yards shot at Columbus, Ohio, though, it took many attempts with the driving machine to do it.

Then there is the curious case of Mr Raymond Blunt, also of Chicago, who defies any golfer to beat his record, which is that he has kept statistics of every round he has played for the last 16 years. Mr Blunt states that he has played 45,833 strokes, walked over 2000 miles, and spent 2800 hours doing it. He has an average of 95 a round, and the cost of his golf had been 10,000 dollars, which in English money works out at about lOd a stroke.
