Representatives of North Island Maori tribes were accorded a traditional ceremonial welcome at Pakipaki, near Hastings, yesterday. The principal tribes of the island will be represented at meetings today and Sunday to discuss participation by Roman Catholic Maoris in the national Eucharistic congress in Wellington in 1940. Sir Apirana Ngat-i will be present at today’s meeting.— Press Association.
