New Brighton Club’s Meeting BLAIR ATHOL’S SPRINT • PROSPECTS The New Brighton Trotting Club’s spring meeting postponed from last Saturday will be held today. It is reported from Christchurch that a few days of fine weather have dried up the track, and while it will be on the dead side it will provide firm footing. The first race will start at 12.30 p.m. and the win-and-place system of betting will operate. Frisco Boy, who will be coupled with Frisco Lady, will be a firm favourite for the Burwood Handicap, in which Silver Guy, Red Pigeon, Toorak and Mystery Yet will also be considered. It is a good class field but T in view of his recent form Frisco Boy promises to be the hardest to beat. A meeting of Ginger Jack. Marsceres and Blair Athol in the

Wainoni Handicap will create some interest. Ginger Jack is set to give away 12 yards and with a good beginning he may be capable of such a task. Marsceres will be opposed to one of the strongest fields he has yet met but it is unlikely that this will greatly trouble him. Blair Athol is one of the most consistent pacers racing and as he is probably a better sprinter than stayer he will be well suited by the one mile and a-quarter journey.
