NEW ZEALAND LABOUR PARTY
MAORI BRANCH REVIVED AT BLUFF The Maori branch of the New Zealand Labour Party was re-formed at Bluff at a special meeting, which was attended by a big number of Maori residents. Mr T. S. Spencer was chairman. The president of the Bluff branch of the Labour Party (Mr W. K. Cameron) and the secretary (Mr W. P. Butler) were present by invitation and spoke on the objects of the party. Mr Cameron pointed out the importance of the Maori’s part in politics and said that the Maori branch, which had been allowed to lapse, should be revived. A vote of thanks to the two speakers was carried. < Tlie election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr T, S. Spencer; vice-president, Mr T. West, sen.; secretary, Mr C. West; executive committee, Mesdames J. Morrison, R. Spencer and C. Whaitiri and Messrs P. Ryan, C. Whaitiri, M. Wixon, A. Hart and J. Arnott; trustees, Messrs J. Joss and A. Hart; auditors, Mrs R. Spencer and Mr N, Bradshaw; delegate to the. Awarua Labour Representation Committee, Mr M. Wixon. PERSONAL Mr J. McC. Hamilton has resigned from the staff of the Auckland branch of the. National Bank of New Zealand to join Mr James Hamilton, his brother, in the Southland Stevedoring Company at Bluff.
