MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB 1 At the weekly shoot of the Tuatapere Miniature Rifle Club Mrs M. Gorton won both the women’s rifle and the handicap buttons. The men’s rifle button was won by W. Aitken and the handicap button by E. Gorton.

At the monthly meeting of the Waiau Welfare Society Mrs Stancombe presided over the following members:— Mesdames H. Whitehead, J. Catto, C. Cottam, J. Tuffery, J. King, C. Gregory, H. Benneworth, T. Tilbury, S. Laurie, W. Low, L. Wescombe, J. Stuck, J. Mangan, H. Robins, R. Walker, C.
Payne, J. O. Harper, Henderson and A. D. McClymont. It was decided to hold euchre tournaments instead of Flag 500. Mrs G. Stancombe won the competition for the afternoon. The hostesses were Mesdames Benneworth and Gregory. PERSONAL Mrs Erskine, sen., Mrs W. Erskine and Miss J. Young are members of the Southland farmers’ party touring the North Island. Mr and Mrs J. Dolan were visitors to Queenstown. Mrs C. Duncan is visiting Invercargill. Mrs J. McDonald, sen., is spending a holiday at Dipton.
