STATE EXAMINATION FOR MIDWIVES
INVERCARGILL CANDIDATE FIRST IN DOMINION WELLINGTON, July 5. The following Invercargill candidates were successful in the State examination for midwives: — J. C. Henderson, T. D. Pierce (honours, Ist in Dominion), B. M. Trotter, B. M. Clarkson, T. R._ Fountaine.
The following candidates were sue-, cessful in the State examination for 1 maternity nurses:— Invercargill.—M. I. Copeland (honours). Dunedin.—K. C. Cameron, A. V. Ewar, I. H. Henderson (honours), J. A. Kent, and J. B. McKenzie.
Nurse Pierce, who was first in New Zealand in the examination for midwives, belongs to Temuka, where she is at present living. She came to Invercargill for her training, which was taken at St. Helens hospital.
